ROB
“Tank” Barry
took up bass a couple of years after brother Owen
started on the guitar. By their early teens, the Barry
brothers were an accepted part of the Essex jamming scene,
holding their own alongside a huge range of experienced
pro players and learning many valuable lessons in the
process.
By the age of 15, Rob was opening for visiting American
blues acts, alongside Owen, Tim
and Paul, in T-Bird
Rhythm, as well as playing with Owen in rock band,
The Voodoo Chillies.
Rob was voted Bassist of the Year
in the 2004 Digital
Blues Awards. He’s that rarest of bass players
- a rock-steady groove- merchant with almost infallible
timing. These days, he’s much sought-after by a
wide range of blues, rock and soul bands.
He plays with Tim and Paul in Los
Tres Armadillos and is well known on the blues scene
as house bassist for many of the hugely-popular all-night
jams at Warner
Blues Weekends around the UK.
