PAUL
Lester is
one of the best-kept secrets on the UK blues scene
today. Few drummers this side of the Atlantic can
play a Texas shuffle the way Paul does, while the
tight, muscular funky grooves he lays down with
Armadillos bassman Rob Barry are legendary. In successive
2005 and 2006 Digital Blues Awards polls, he has
been voted Favourite Drummer.
This great team first came together in 1994 when
they played in a band called T-Bird
Rhythm - the band which would eventually
become The Rockin Armadillos.
Before working with the ’Dillos, Paul played
with many respected acts including Booze’n’Blooze
and Doghouse, as well
as playing sessions with musicians including ex-Dr
Feelgood/ Yardbirds guitarist Gypie Mayo.
