ARE ...
The Rockin' Armadillos... a
punchy, rockin' Texas style band that wears its influences
proudly on its sleeve, fusing the funky good-time blues
of Texan luminaries such as Stevie Ray Vaughan and The Fabulous
Thunderbirds with the guts, energy and sheer enthusiasm
for which Essex bands have justly been famed for many years.
Since first emerging in 1995, the Armadillos have worked
with some of the biggest names on today's US and UK blues
scene including: The Fabulous Thunderbirds,
Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Duke Robillard, Sherman
Robertson, Bobby Mack, Smokin' Joe Kubek, Otis Grand, Dr.
Feelgood, Nine Below Zero and The
Hoax.
Stirring
performances at Colne, Dartmouth, Farnham Maltings, Burnley
Mechanics, Mayfest and other major blues festivals have
been much talked about tours de force - winning rave reviews
and TWO invitations to be session guests on BBC Radio 2's
Paul Jones Rhythm and Blues Show.
In
2006, blues fans across the UK and online worldwidevoted
the band winners in FIVE categories
of the Digital Blues Awards.
They were also runners-up in several others, confirming
the band yet again as a major force on the UK blues scene...
This latest poll result means every single member of the
band has now won at least one award over the past three
years. (see below)
